Somerset, NJ – September 4, 2013

The Catalent Applied Drug Delivery Institute today announced that it is to hold an educational and training event, “Overcoming Bioavailability Challenges,” at The Royal Society of Chemistry’s (RSC) London headquarters, Burlington House, on Thursday 3rd of October. Leading experts on drug development and delivery from across industry and academia, including the University of Bath, Catalent Pharma Solutions, BASF, 3M and Formac Pharmaceuticals, will share the most effective and innovative approaches and technologies for bioavailability solutions. Industry and academic insights to help deliver better treatments for patients will also be shared. The full agenda, list of participating experts, and link for free registration for the European event can be found at www.drugdeliveryinstitute.com.

Attendees at the event will also have the opportunity to secure one-on-one sessions with key industry experts to help overcome their technical and operational hurdles, and participate in an “expert panel” Q&A session.

The Institute was established in 2012 to accelerate the adoption of advanced drug delivery technologies through industry and academic collaboration, research, education, and the sharing of information. The Institute recently hosted a similar event in New Jersey featuring speakers from Catalent, Bend Research, BASF, Formac Pharmaceuticals and the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Over 100 registrants from companies and universities including Merck, Teva, Bristol-Myers Squibb, St. John’s University and The University of North Carolina attended the live interactive training event, while attendees ranged from Vice Presidents and Directors to Principal Scientists and Graduate Students.

“The recent event in New Jersey was very successful and generated some great feedback. We feel that rolling out a program of educational days in both Europe and North America, for industry professionals and academia, is crucial to achieving the Institute’s objectives,” commented Terry Robinson, Executive Director of the Institute. “Our aim is to ensure that attendees gain expert insights and learn about innovative bioavailability strategies to help overcome the complex drug delivery challenges they face, as well as achieving a greater understanding of the value of collaboration between industry and academia.”
